Faysal Khan
Director, IT and Communication, ABEAC
A chemical process engineer, career coach, and dad!
My dream for an engineering career started at an early stage, watching the industrious Meghna riverbanks on my way to the village. My single mom fought hard for my dream to come true. I came to Canada on a scholarship, and worked 10 years in the oil & energy EPCM/pipeline operation/R&D sector. I am grateful to many for my journey so far. My goal is to be an engineer who contributes to the socio-economic development of the community and is known as an expert problem solver.
I am enthusiastic about helping engineers with their goals and driving their career success. From my 10+ years of work experience in the challenging boom & bust Canadian economy, I bring a wealth of know-how that can make you stand out. Besides being technically sound as an engineer, I firmly believe that one needs to market himself to thrive in this competitive workspace. Like many engineers, I also struggled with it for many years and made lots of mistakes along the way. The biggest mistake of all was not to spend any time on it. #Notanymore
Connect with me to network and discuss career progression.
-As an Engineer:
I utilize my background in process design, R&D, water treatment, operations, maintenance, and project coordination to bring a diversified perspective in problem-solving for stakeholders. I excel in an innovative and collaborative environment. I am on a mission to bring knowledge from engineering, data analytics, and value engineering for business results. My diverse experience made me realize my strong suits: ADAPTABILITY and EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE. Outside of office, I spend my time playing with my 4 years old son.
Career Highlights:
- Certified in Aspen HYSYS by aspentech.
- Prepared an optimized asset installation plan that ensured meeting the deadline with a 27% reduction in CAPEX and a savings of $2.3 million in power cost.
- Investigated piping heat gain by modeling and analyzing 33 simulation cases in HYSYS featuring savings of $30 million.
- Led the multidisciplinary coordination between 50+ engineers for 850+ P&IDs production.
- Led multiple industrial water treatment projects
- Supervised 14 SmartPlant drafters across multiple offices for P&ID production.
- Received Grad Scholarships on 3 consecutive semesters for scoring the highest GPA.
